Get on your bike!

Cycling

If you've never learned to ride a bike or if you've recently rediscovered your enthusiasm for cycling and would like some hints and tips on how to make safe on-road journeys, help is at hand!

Northamptonshire Sport has recently launched a new beginner's programme to encourage more adults to get active by cycling. So, if you've never learned to ride a bike and need help starting from scratch, or you want to refresh the skills you had when you were younger there are a programme of Adult Learn to Ride courses.

Chris Holmes, Director at Northamptonshire Sport said "There are a lot of people living in Northamptonshire who can't ride a bike, so we're providing people with the opportunity to learn to ride, something that we often take for granted. Our trained cycling instructors will help people to get cycling even if they've got never been on a bike before. The great thing about cycling is it not only keeps you fit, it's cheap, reliable, good for the environment and it's really enjoyable".

The courses on offer are part of the Bikeability scheme and the National Training Standards which is 'Cycling Proficiency' for the 21st Century, designed to give skills and confidence for today's roads. The first course starts on Saturday 21st May at Delapre Primary School in Northampton and runs over three weeks for two hours each week and costs just £30.
