England star guests at Corby football festival
Sophie Bradley of England ladies football team was guest of honour at the Corby girls football festival this week. The festival is for year 5 and 6 girls and is organised by the Corby, Oundle and Thrapston school sports partnership
Teams from across the district competed to go through to the county final and "Bradders" was on hand to present the medals as well as help in the warm-up and take part in a question and answer session, giving advise on training and nutrition to the England stars of the future.
Also in attendance were a couple of local clubs, including the recently formed Corby Gems, who achieved their Charter Standard Award at the weekend and are the first female only youth club in Corby. They currently have 3 girls teams and are looking to develop more teams at younger age groups.
On the pitch, both semi finals went to penalties and in the final St Patricks just edged the final 2-1 against Woodnewton, with both teams progressing to the County Finals next week.
