Boccia Team Defend regional title

Northamptonshire Boccia Team

The Northamptonshire Boccia travelled up the M1 to Matlock last week to defend their regional title, which they won for the first time last year.

The 3 Northants players who all came from the YIP Inclusive Multi-sports club in Rushden took on teams from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire in the annual regional tournament.

After a shaky start against very experienced opponents, the defending champions from Northamptonshire bounced back to win the day which was decided on points aggregate by a single point .

Boccia is a highly inclusive sport similar to French Boule which has been included in the Paralympics since 1984. For more details on the sport you can look on the Boccia England website http://www.bocciaengland.org.uk/

The YIP Club is open to any young people with disabilities aged 8-24 and meet Tuesday every Tuesday 5:30-7pm. For more details contact contact Jackie Ackroyd on 01933 352981 or email jackie.ackroyd@culturalcommunitypartnerships.org.uk
