Sport England Themed Funding Open!
This week, Sport England announced the launch of the second funding themed round, Active Women.
Through Active Women, a total of £10 million of Lottery funding will be invested in projects that address key barriers to participation in sport amongst two target groups:
- Women in disadvantaged communities (the 20% most deprived areas in the country, as defined by the 2007 ‘Indices of Deprivation’) – the challenge amongst this group is to stimulate local demand for sport
- Women caring for children under 16 – the challenge here is to identify and provide appropriate and accessible sporting opportunities and facilities that will meet demand.
There are also a number of pre-application workshops to provide greater detail on the types of projects Sport England are looking to fund, along with an explanation on the rationale and criteria for this specific themed round. These will be held on the following dates:
· 18th November 2009 - Manchester
· 20th November 2009 – Reading
· 23rd November 2009 – Birmingham
Participants of projects targeting women in disadvantaged communities must be from one of the top 20% most deprived areas in the country. Below are details of the eligible areas in Northamptonshire
