Sport England Challenges Northamptonshire Sport
Northamptonshire Sport has been set the challenge of finding 23 645 new people participating in Sport by 2012.
As the major funder for the Sport Partnership, Sport England is now looking to Northamptonshire Sport to provide it's contribution to the East Midlands ambition of 158 850 people to be active by 2012.
Northamptonshire Sport has now established that this will mean a figure of 328 new participants each month.
The Director of Northamptonshire Sport, Vanessa Brown welcomes the challenge by saying ' these figures gives us a very clear remit on what we must focus on over the next five years.
Northamptonshire Sports is under no illusion that the targets can be met without continual partnership support. There will be a greater need to ensure that we target many new communities that are not already being engaged within sport currently. The need for sport to better engage with priority groups will be essential'.
