Northamptonshire Sport achieves Racial Equality Standard
Northamptonshire Sport has become the first sports partnership within the East Midlands to achieve the Preliminary Level of the Sporting Equals Achieving Racial Equality: A Standard for Sport.
The partnership was assessed by an independent panel chaired by Chris Hudson of Sheffield Hallam University reporting to the Sporting Equals Assessment panel.
Anne Green, Senior Development Manager at Sport England said, I would like to congratulate Northamptonshire Sport on gaining the Standard and would like to see all sports partnerships follow their lead. Sport England expects all deliverers of sports activity to put policies, procedures and plans in place to tackle racism and promote racial equality.
Jenny Kempster Director of Northamptonshire Sport said, Gaining the Preliminary level of the Standard is a big achievement for the Partnership, but we are fully aware that to ensure racial equality in all the work of the NSport Partnership requires an on-going commitment from all deliverers across the county.
As part of achieving the Standard, a Race and Equality Action Group has been formed across the county, for further information on the work of this group please contact Jenny Kempster on 01604 236976.
