Northampton Rowing Club's J18 Squad Shatter World 100K Relay Record
On Saturday 12th July junior boys from Northampton Rowing Club shattered the 100K Indoor Rowing Relay World Record. The J18 squad of James Moore, Anthony Webb, Gareth Tootill, Alex Waller, Sam Thomson, Lawrence Key, Isaac Orr, Andy Line, Ollie Storey and Ed Sanders produced an astonishing display of extreme endurance to demolish the World J18 100K relay record.
Cheered on by a huge crowd at the Grosvenor shopping centre, the guys took 7mins 53s off the Windsor Boys School record to finish in a time of 4:37:55. Disaster almost struck with around 6k to go when the rowing machine snapped in half, but some quick thinking and some weights came to the rescue and meant the guys didn't lose too much time.
The event was held to raise money for the new rowing club boathouse and
Macmillan Cancer Support (50-50 split)
