Kettering Sports Awards 2007

Winner of Arthur Nicholson 2006 Sian Edwards

Following the huge success of the awards last year Kettering Borough Council has teamed up with the Kettering School Sports Partnership, Wicksteed Park and Southfield School to re-launch the Kettering Sports Awards for 2007.

The thirteen categories will incorporate the prestigious Arthur Nicholson award but also include awards ranging from 'young leader of the year' to 'development club 2007'. This will mean increased recognition for more volunteers and more sportspeople than ever before. Anyone in the borough is eligible to nominate and there are direct links into the Northamptonshire County Sports Awards, which themselves link into the East Midlands Regional Sports Awards.

Michael Cowland, Kettering Borough Council's Leisure Services Manager said, "The sports awards will be a brilliant event this year. I am really pleased that we are working with so many partners to develop a good idea into a fantastic initiative for the borough. Wouldn't it be great if a local award winner, or someone who started at a local club, was representing Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics?"

Nomination forms can be downloaded here so if you know of an individual or a club that deserves an award complete the form and return it with your reasons for nomination in no more than 500 words. The closing date for nominations is Friday 4th May 2007 and the sports awards evening will be held on Wednesday 13th June 2007 at Kettering's Wicksteed Park.

The awards have already received crucial backing from the Kettering Evening Telegraph and Wicksteed Park but business sponsors are currently being sought for each award. Sponsors will have their name put on a trophy and the opportunity to attend the awards evening in June.
