Investment in Rugby stars of tomorrow
Rugby Union across Northamptonshire is to see a £42,000 investment to help develop the stars of tomorrow. Northamptonshire Sport have agreed a grant of £36,000 to the Rugby Football Union to appoint a full time coach, this coach will be supported by a part time girls rugby coach who will be based within the County Sports Partnership. The funding has been awarded as part of the Community Sports Coaches Scheme.
The appointment of the two coaches will enable the delivery of over 3500 additional hours of high quality rugby coaching opportunities for boys and girls across the county. It is anticipated that over 8,000 young people will benefit from addition coaching over the next 3 years.
These two coaches form part of the Government driven national Community Sports Coaches Scheme which aims to establish 3000 professional coaches across the country. In Northamptonshire, the scheme has seen over £600,000 invested in sport to date, establishing 38 new full and part time coaching posts that will deliver an additional 38,000 hours of sports coaching for young people within the county. It is anticipated that more local coaching posts will be added to this scheme in 2005.
