Connexions have received national recognition for their ‘Coaching for Life’ programme in Northamptonshire.

Connexions Northamptonshire, the support service for young people aged 13-19, has recently won a highly commended award at this year’s National Career Awards which was held in Solihull, West Midlands. The award was received in the category of initiatives focusing on social inclusion.

Under the banner of Coaching for life, Connexions and the three main sports clubs (Northampton Town FC, Northampton Saints Rugby club and Northampton Cricket Club) came together to deliver a 10 week coaching course to young people who were unemployed aged 16-19. Connexions would like to thank all the community coaches at each sporting club, Mr. Russell Lewis, Mr. Ross Stewart and Mr. Philip Rowe, for all the hard work they contributed.

Connexions are currently working with Northamptonshire Sport to develop community volunteering opportunities within the programme.
