Boccia Gotcha!

Young people with a disability from the Young Inclusive People (YIP) club which meets at the Pemberton Centre in Rushden fortnightly recently represented Northamptonshire at the Regional Boccia Championships in Nottingham, achieving 3rd place in both the under and over 16 years categories.

The young people from YIP who took part in the Championships attended training sessions at the Pemberton Centre during the summer,  coached by Northamptonshire Sport's Disability Sport Development Officer Graeme Wilson, who said "T his was a remarkable achievement having only learnt to play the game in a short time and competing against experienced sides from across the Region."

Boccia will now feature as one of the main activities at the YIP

club which includes such activities as Fencing, Archery, Trampoline, Wheelchair Basketball and even an Inflatable Climbing Wall. Further competitions and matches against other clubs in the County are also being organised.
